Privacy Policy
This policy explains how MediDown handles information when users submit public or user-authorized media page URLs, use the Chrome extension, contact support, or view pages that may use analytics and advertising technology.
Information users submit
When you paste a URL or open a page through the MediDown Chrome extension, MediDown receives the submitted URL so the service can preview available public or user-authorized media. Do not submit private, login-gated, DRM-protected, paid, restricted, or sensitive URLs.
Temporary files and processing data
MediDown may temporarily process metadata, thumbnails, format lists, subtitles, audio/video streams, image selections, and ZIP files so the requested workflow can complete. Temporary artifacts are intended for short-lived processing and cleanup, not permanent hosting.
Operational logs and retention
MediDown may keep limited server logs such as IP address, request time, browser user agent, submitted route, platform, error code, and abuse-prevention signals. Logs are used for reliability, debugging, rate limiting, fraud prevention, and security. Production logs should normally be retained only as long as needed for those purposes, commonly up to 30 days unless security, abuse, or legal needs require longer retention.
Cookies, local storage, analytics and ads
The frontend may use local storage for preferences such as theme selection. MediDown pages may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand page performance and error rates. If Google AdSense or related Google advertising products are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and personalize ads according to user settings and applicable law.
Third-party processors
MediDown may rely on infrastructure, hosting, domain, security, analytics, advertising, and email providers to operate the site. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services. Google services may be used for advertising, measurement, Search Console, or site verification.
Chrome extension data
The MediDown Chrome extension does not scrape pages, inject content scripts, track browsing history, or collect extension-side analytics. After a clear user action, it forwards only the selected page, link, or selected URL to MediDown.com. Extension API data is used only for the user-facing purpose described in the Chrome Web Store listing.
User choices and deletion requests
You can stop using MediDown at any time, clear browser local storage, and avoid submitting URLs that contain sensitive information. For deletion or access questions about support messages, logs, or temporary processing data, email privacy@medidown.com. MediDown may need enough information to locate the relevant record.
Children and sensitive data
MediDown is not designed for children or for processing sensitive personal information. Users should not submit private account URLs, private messages, medical, financial, or identity documents, or media they are not allowed to access.
Contact
For privacy questions, email privacy@medidown.com. For copyright notices, email copyright@medidown.com. For abuse reports, email abuse@medidown.com.
Limitations and safe use
MediDown does not promise that every link will work. Platforms can remove media, require login, limit public requests, change page structure, or restrict media access. That is normal for public media tooling, and the downloader is designed to show clear errors instead of implying restricted access is possible.
Public or user-authorized media only. Private, login-gated, DRM-protected, paid, age-restricted, region-restricted, and policy-restricted content are not supported.
Frequently asked questions
Does MediDown track browsing history?
No. The web tool processes URLs users submit, and the Chrome extension forwards only a user-selected URL after a clear action.
How long are files stored?
Temporary processing files are intended to be cleaned when no longer needed. Server logs should normally be retained only for operational, security, abuse-prevention, or legal needs.
Does MediDown use advertising cookies?
Advertising cookies may be used if Google AdSense or related Google advertising services are enabled on the site.
